Backstage News On Chris Jericho’s Decision To Sign With AEW & Recent Talks With WWE

A major story in the pro-wrestling world this week was Chris Jericho signing with All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

We have some more details to pass your way on Jericho’s decision to sign with AEW. This comes via Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here).

Jericho has reportedly signed a 3-year deal with AEW.

According to Jericho, this is the best contract that he has signed in his career. His contract will reportedly allow him to still work for New Japan Pro Wrestling. He will also still be able to do his cruise.

Jericho was negotiating with WWE and AEW up until the last minute. AEW ultimately offered him the best deal and he signed with the company.

In an interview with Busted Open Radio this week, Jericho also said that he wouldn’t have signed with AEW if a TV deal wasn’t on the table. Here is a quote from Jericho:

“I mean it’s one of those things, I wouldn’t have gone to All Elite if there wasn’t a strong TV deal on the table being worked on, and there’s a couple that I know of, and both of them are like, ‘Wow!’ Like if it’s announced, if it’s one of those two, you’ll go welp, that’s what you need.”
