Apollo Crews faced off against Chris Jericho this week on RAW.
Apollo Crews made his WWE NXT debut back in August of 2015. The RAW after WrestleMania 32, Crews made his WWE main roster debut when he defeated Tyler Breeze. Fans were surprised when Crews got the call up so fast, not because of a lack of talent but because it all happened so fast. Apparently Apollo Crews felt the same as he first thought it was a joke when he was told. In a recent interview with SL-R.com promotion this weekends WWE live events, he spoke about when he learned he was getting promoted:
“I didn’t find out (it was happening) until the Friday before that. … It was April Fools’ (Day). I thought it was a joke. But when it really hit me and I realized what was going on I just started breaking down crying tears of happiness. It was cool for me because I don’t remember the last time I shed a tear of any kind of emotion. So it was cool just to see my dreams come true. … It’s the most satisfying feeling ever” (Source: Sj-R.com).
I think Crews is going to be a star one day. I just think they rushed him a little bit because he is incredibly athletic and talented but he doesn’t really have a character right now. That is why we have seen him not get much TV time (and wrestling a lot on WWE Main Event/ Superstars) since he made his debut. I don’t think fans want to be invested in only a guy who is athletically gifted, they want a little bit more. Once Crews figures out a character and develops his personality, he will be a star!
