Anti-Slammy Awards 2019 – The Absolute Worst In WWE

Thank you for checking IWNerd.com’s fourth annual ‘Anti-Slammy’ awards. We celebrate the things that sucked about WWE television in 2019.

10) Worst PPV Event Of The Year Award

— Our Winner: WWE Super ShowDown

The worst PPV event of 2019 (by far) was WWE Super Showdown in Saudi Arabia.

The main event between Goldberg and The Undertaker was a disaster. This was a dream match that simply didn’t live up to the expectations. It was sadder than anything watching these two legends struggle to pick one other up. Their match ended the PPV on a very sour note.

The rest of the PPV was very unmemorable. There were some half-decent matches but it was definitely a skippable PPV. To me, it was the worst show of 2019.

9) Worst Storyline Of The Year Award

— Our Winner: Rusev and Bobby Lashley Feud Over Lana

The worst WWE storyline of the year award goes to Rusev, Lana, and Bobby Lashley. They have been involved in a love triangle over the past few months on Monday Night RAW.

This storyline has seen everything from a fake pregnancy, a divorce, an arrest, and an engagement. The acting has been rough (at times) and it just hasn’t been entertaining, in my opinion at least. I can’t think of any other storyline that has been as bad as this in 2019.

The one thing I will say is that this storyline does seem to be generating WWE some social media buzz. The Youtube numbers for these segments are always among the top of the week for WWE. That means there does appear to be an audience for storylines like this. For me, it just hasn’t clicked.

8) Worst Gimmick Of The Year Award

— Our Winner: Shorty G

I think that the worst gimmick of the year award belongs to Chad Gable, or should I say ‘Shorty G’.

Gable is a former Olympian and has proved to be really talented in the ring. It is still pretty baffling to me that WWE decided in 2019 to give him a gimmick that focuses on his height. The name ‘Shorty G’ is lame and fans have not responded positively so far to it.

I get WWE’s plan in theory. They wanted to get fans behind Gable and push him as this underdog who is short but has a lot of heart. It just seems dumb to me and Gable is too talented for this. ‘Shorty G’ wins my award for the worst gimmick idea of the year.
