8) Worst WWE PPV Event Of The Year Award
– Our Winner: Crown Jewel
To me, it came down to Backlash and Crown Jewel as the worst PPV events of the year. I don’t think that too many fans would argue that they were both bad shows.
The winner for me was Crown Jewel. The whole PPV event left fans with a bad taste in their mouths. There were no matches that really stood out and there was a dark cloud hanging over the event due to what was going on in Saudi Arabia.
Crown Jewel is my winner of the worst event of 2018. Backlash is a close second though as it was also really bad.
7) WTF Moment Of The Year Award
– Our Winner: Shane McMahon Winning The WWE World Cup
My winner for the WTF moment of the year award goes to Shane McMahon winning the WWE World Cup. Shane stepped in for the injured Miz and ended up winning the tournament.
It kind of made sense when it looked like it was setting up a Shane McMahon heel turn. Those plans appear to be scrapped now, so this was just a strange move.
You could also argue the entire World Cup was a fail. WWE had the chance to do something cool with the concept but instead used all American Superstars for the tournament.
A close second for me was Braun Strowman choosing Nicholas as his tag team partner at Wrestlemania 34. You could argue either of those for this award.
