Sami Zayn got wrestling fans talking on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. During the ‘electric chair’ segment, Zayn ended up name-dropping ‘AEW’.
There have been plenty of rumors about this comment and whether or not it was scripted.
We have another rumor to pass your way about the comment and also about the electric chair segment. This comes via Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet.
According to Satin, the audience members asking the questions on RAW were NOT plants. These were legitimate fans asking questions.
None of the audience members ended up asking about AEW, which caused Zayn to make the comment at the end. Satin says that Zayn was told to mention AEW ahead of time, which is why the comment happened.
My Take: I am definitely on the side who thinks that this was scripted. It seems right up Vince McMahon’s alley to mention the new promotion after they got so much buzz over the weekend.
