As we saw on RAW, AJ Styles is the new number one contender for Roman Reigns’ WWE Heavyweight Championship. Styles defeated Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho and Cesaro to win the right this week on RAW. You can see that the moment meant a lot to Styles as the WWE posted a video of him being brought to tears after RAW went off the air. AJ Styles was this weeks guest for Michael Cole’s weekly WWE interview. He spoke on a wide variety of topics.
Did he expect to find such success in the WWE so fast? He says that no one could have expected his rise!
Was his WrestleMania 32 moment everything he expected it to be? He says it was more than he could ever imagine. This was nothing in his wresting career that has ever compared to performing at WrestleMania 32 in front of the record breaking crowd.
If the arena was loud. He has never experienced anything that crazy as the noise in that building.
On losing to Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 32 and bouncing back the next night on RAW to become the number one contender for the WWE Heavyweight Championship. He says that losing, teaches him to hate that feeling and makes him a better performer.
On getting emotional after RAW on Monday. He gets emotional thinking about the fans reaction and them chanting that he deserves it after he won the title shot.
On facing Roman Reigns and if he can handle it. He says that he can certainly handle it, regardless of the height advantage. He says that there is no one like Roman Reigns. He says that anytime you step in the ring with someone like Roman Reigns you should be a little bit scared. He says that his job is to knock the chip off of Roman Reigns’ shoulder.
I like AJ Styles but no way he will win against Reigns. . . and he shouldn’t.
