AJ Styles was a guest on 97.9 The Box in Houston to promote Survivor Series. During the interview, he shared some of his retirement plans. AJ is considered by many as one of the best wrestlers on the planet but it is easy to forget that he is 40 years old and has been wrestling for 2 decades.
During the interview, AJ Spoke about getting older and maintaining his training schedule of 5 days a week:
“The older you get, the less energy you have to maintain it! It is what it is, but if you still have that drive and you can still do it, why not? Get in the gym and get it done, and look good in the meantime.”
AJ says that he is sometimes forced to discipline his kids over the phone since he is travelling so much. He teases that he will be hanging up the boots in a “couple of years” to spend more time with his wife and four kids:
“Work hard now, you enjoy it later- In a couple of years, I’ll be able to catch every football game, every baseball game, every basketball game, cheerleading, gymnastics, whatever they’re in.”

The interviewer responded to AJ, saying that he wants to see him wrestle for more than a couple of years, AJ responded:
“Man, I’m 40 years old!”
