Word made the rounds on Friday night that AJ Styles may have been injured at WWE’s live event in Madison Square Garden. The original match was changed from a tag team match (Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura vs Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn) to a singles match (Nakamura vs Owens).
Later in the show, Styles made the save to help Nakamura. This had many fans thinking that it was only an injury angle for the show.
AJ did NOT wrestle at Saturday night’s live event in Odessa, Texas which gives some credence to the idea that he is legitimately dealing with an injury right now.
Here is what Dave Meltzer wrote on F4Wonline about the injury:
“In another story regarding top talent, AJ Styles missed last night’s house show in Odessa, Texas, and it was announced he was injured in Madison Square Garden. He didn’t wrestle in MSG but the way it was laid out made it appear to be an angle shot at the start of his match to take him out and protect him from doing the match. At this time it is not confirmed the severity of the injury”
