The Face that runs the place, the Champ that runs the camp…the Phenomenal One. AJ Styles currently has a multitude of different names in WWE but it’s clear his true name should be ‘Best on the entire Roster’. Without a doubt- AJ will have the best match of the night, whoever he’s against and wherever he is on the card.
With Wrestlemania only a month away, everyone has been speculating who Styles should face at Mania. Samoa Joe? Sami Zayn? John Cena again? A debuting Nakamura? Or…Shane McMahon. Apparently…it’s going to be the latter.
Now, taking nothing away from Shane O’Mac here; the guy has been great since coming back and Smackdown Live continues to provide much better content than Raw every single week but…seriously? I don’t want to see debatably the greatest wrestler alive today versus a part-timer on the wrong side of 40. This match raises a whole bunch of questions and problems; due to AJ getting more and more over as each week passes; who’s going to be the heel in this situation? Two McMahon’s as heel authority figures would kill us as fans but everyone wants to see AJ as a face so would reject anything he did even remotely heel-worthy.

Additionally, with the rumours of having Cena and Nikki Bella vs Miz and Maryse- what is the deal with Smackdown’s representation at Wrestlemania? Yes, the WWE title match looks like it’s going to be fantastic but are we seriously going to have Smackdown Live’s top face in a mixed tag match and their top, currently, heel against a part-timer? Call Nakamura up, have Finn jump ship to Smackdown or do…anything that will show why Smackdown is the better brand. I feel it is deeply unfair to have the better brand under-represented at the biggest show of the year and putting AJ in a marquee match will go a huge way in solving this issue.
Overall, it looks like we’re probably going to get this match regardless. All we can hope just now is that the build is good, makes sense and they put on a show because just now…I really don’t want none.
