AJ Styles Has Already Made Some WWE History In 2018

AJ Styles had a pretty great year in 2017. He made history by being the first person to win the WWE Title outside of North America. This came after defeating Jinder Mahal in Manchester, England for the Title back in November.

Styles has already made some more WWE history in 2018.

Styles joins the elite list of Superstars who have started and finished a calendar year while holding the WWE Championship. Other superstars to do this are Bruno Sammartino, Bob Backlund, Hulk Hogan, John Cena and, CM Punk.

Styles won the title from Dean Ambrose at the Backlash event in 2016. He held onto the title until losing it at the Royal Rumble in January of 2017.

After not holding the title for most of 2017, Styles won it from Jinder Mahal during Smackdown Live in Manchester. Styles retained against Jinder at Clash of Champions and held the title past the December 31st mark.

Some pretty elite company to be in.

We here at IWNerd.com also voted him as Male Superstar of the year for our 2017 WWE awards.
