Rumor Roundup: More Possible NXT Stars That Could Get Drafted, Backstage Note On Kevin Owens, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) More On Vince’s PC Visit

On Fightful Select (subscribe here), Sean Ross Sapp provided some additional details about Vince McMahon’s recent visit to the WWE Performance Center.

Here is what Sapp wrote:

We have heard from several at the WWE Performance Center however, many of whom were extremely nervous about Vince McMahon’s arrival there this week. Given the cuts, several wrestlers were fearful they’d be on the chopping block if their “first impression” was a bad one on McMahon. However, we’re told that most talent didn’t see Vince McMahon very much and only even caught a short glimpse of him there. A couple of wrestlers that we talk to say they even made themselves nervous for no reason, or at least no reason on the surface.

Not all NXT and Performance Center talent was required to be at the PC Thursday, so some didn’t have any idea of what was going on. Several of those that were there said they were really relieved when they realized they were just training as usually. One person who has been at the Performance Center the last few years said that before Thursday they’d never seen Vince McMahon around the PC outside of Raw, Smackdown and PPV tapings during the pandemic.

My Take:

  • I think Vince is going to be calling up a lot of talent in the upcoming draft. As a result, he wants to get his own eyes on them to see what he can do.

4) Backstage Note On Kevin Owens

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Kevin Owens asked for time off but he is back already as it was only for two weeks. There is no injury or anything that he is dealing with.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

The situation with Owens was this. When he tweeted that he was going to take time off and we were told he asked for time off, it was always just a two week vacation and never to be a long-term thing. So he’s back on the 7/2 show doing a last man standing match with Zayn as a MITB qualifier.

My Take:

  • Owens is someone who would be great as the Money in the Bank briefcase holder. I could see him trolling both Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley for weeks.
