Rumor Roundup: Cancelled Match For WWE’s PPV In Saudi Arabia, Backstage Note On Adam Pearce, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) Update On WWE Live Events Returning

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, WWE is starting to plan their return to live events. The company is reportedly starting to plan some test events for this Summer, where fans can be back in attendance.

Here is what Johnson wrote:

PWInsider.com has learned that the company intends to hopefully start out with some test live events this summer, but they are very early in the planning stages and would be subject to where things stand nationally with the COVID-19 pandemic as well as whatever the local rules and regulations are in different cities and municipalities.

In a perfect world, the company would like to start that process out in July or August, but have not yet pulled the trigger as they are strategizing on how to best handle the situation.  We are told that they are especially paying close attention to how numerous “waves” of the pandemic have played out internationally as they want to make the best informed decision as to when and where they start.

My Take:

  • With the UFC recently hosting a big crowd, I figured that this would follow. Hopefully they can do things safely for everyone involved.

4) WWE Referee Suspended

According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select (subscribe here), Drake Wuertz was recently suspended by WWE. He is the NXT referee who has made headlines recently for some of his controversial comments from outside of the ring. Here is what Sapp wrote:

Wuertz was either formally or informally suspended earlier in 2021, and wasn’t allowed at the Capitol Wrestling Center for better or for worse for a short period of time.

It was also noted that Darryl Sharma is now the head referee in NXT.

My Take:

  • This will be a topic that we will have to wait for a bit more details on. Interesting none-the-less.
