Rumor Roundup: Why WWE Made Survivor Series Team Change, Backstage Feeling About Unionization, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) The Final Straw That Led To Zelina Vega’s Firing From WWE

According to a report from Sports Illustrated, Zelina Vega was fired by WWE due to a breach of contract. Her starting an OnlyFans account was said to be the “last straw” for WWE, which led to her firing.

Here is what the site wrote:

WWE, specifically McMahon, considered this a breach of contract and responded by terminating Trinidad’s contract. Sources close to WWE informed Sports Illustrated that, following discussions regarding Twitch, upper management felt Trinidad boxed them into a difficult situation by opening the OnlyFans account. As unpopular as this new policy is among talent, Trinidad’s dismissal serves as a sobering reminder that the new policy is going to be strictly enforced.

My Take:

  • I am excited to see what Zelina does next. I could see her thriving somewhere like AEW, who could always use more female talent. That might be the best fit for her but we will have to wait and see.

4) Backstage Feeling In WWE About Unionization

According to WrestlingNews.co, there is a feeling backstage in WWE that a lot of the top talent won’t agree to a union. This is because the top half of the roster is making so much money.

Here is what the site wrote:

WrestlingNews.co has heard that there are others in the company that support unionization but they saw what happened with Vega and realize that a message was sent when she was fired. There is some optimism among some because of SAG-AFTRA’s interest and Yang’s statements but the feeling among many in the company is that some of the top names who are making over $1 million per year are not going to speak up.

My Take:

  • It will definitely be a tough fight. WWE pays their top talent so much that it doesn’t make sense for them to want to unionize as they would have to take a massive pay-cut. It will be interesting to see what happens.
