Rumor Roundup: Big Match Planned For Wrestlemania 37, Why RAW Underground Was Canceled, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) Update On Roman Reigns vs The Rock

Roman Reigns vs The Rock is a match that a lot of fans want to see happen at some point. The storyline seems perfect, with Reigns now as a heel and referring to himself as ‘The Tribal Chief’.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, The Rock wants the match but there are some insurance issues that are stopping it from happening:

Make no mistake about it. Dwayne Johnson would love to put Reigns over at a WrestleMania in front of a big crowd. The issue has been insurance issues regarding other work he has coming up. It’s been an issue since the second Cena match. There have been at least three ideas, a singles with Lesnar, a singles match with HHH, and Rock & Rousey vs. HHH & Stephanie for him but none ever materialized.

My Take:

  • The Rock is too valuable as a movie star to get back in the ring. The Rock vs Roman would be incredible but I just don’t see it happening.

4) Why RAW Underground Was Really Canceled

According to WrestlingNews.co, the real reason why ‘RAW Underground’ was cancelled was because Vince McMahon didn’t understand the concept.

Here is what the site wrote:

We were told that although the COVID-19 concerns were the primary reasons for the segments being scrapped, Vince was never fully on board with the concept and he didn’t “get it,” according to one WWE source.

WrestlingNews.co was told that Vince only approved the idea because he was looking for some out-of-the-box ideas that could help boost ratings but it was clear from the beginning that he wasn’t in love with the fight club idea.

My Take:

  • I thought that it was a fun thing to try. It didn’t really catch fire so they are moving on. I am fine with that.
