Rumor Roundup: New NXT Show That Was Discussed, Backstage Frustration In WWE, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) Backstage Frustration About WWE’s Post-ThunderDome Plans

According to a report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select (subscribe here), there is some backstage frustration about WWE’s plan to start traveling again. This is rumored for after WWE’s contract with the Amway Center expires at the end of October.

Here is what Sapp wrote about the backstage reaction to these plans:

“Unanimously, the reception was that of groans and frustration, with many thinking that the decision to do this after the company knew of another outbreak was a poor one. One top wrestler said that they’ve not seen much from WWE to instill confidence that it would get any better on the road. Every talent we’ve spoke to misses live audiences, but have also expressed concerns to us about the realities of traveling.”

My Take:

  • I don’t blame any of the talent for being mad about this (if it happens). It seems silly to start traveling again since things are still not under control in the United States.

4) Backstage Frustration About WWE Taking Over Twitch Accounts

A report broke this week that suggested WWE is taking control of the Twitch accounts of WWE Superstars. This has led to a lot of outrage from fans on social media.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is a lot of WWE talent who are mad about this. Here is what he wrote:

One talent said, “This is amazing because it’s really going to open up the independent contractor issue. All these smart attorneys surrounding Vince and this is the battle he wants?”

They also noted a lot of talent is livid, but as is usually the case in these situations, nobody would speak up about it.

My Take:

  • This is another thing that is hard to blame the talent (if true). It seems like a messy situation all around and will piss a lot of people off.
