Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.
5) Backstage Note On Roman Reigns’ Heel Turn
According to Dave Meltzer on the Sunday Night’s Main Event podcast, Roman Reigns turning heel and aligning with Paul Heyman is something that has been planned for a while now. Meltzer says that Reigns has wanted to turn for some time now.
It is believed that WWE finally pulled the trigger on the Reigns-Heyman pairing for two reasons. The first is that Reigns wanted to turn. The second is that Heyman has a big (performers) contract with WWE still and they wanted to find a way to use him in storylines.
Brock Lesnar’s contract also recently expired with WWE and he is now a free agent. This means that Heyman was without a client before joining up with Roman.
My Take:
- I don’t blame Roman for wanting to turn heel as it has been amazing already and it has only been a week. I am fired up about this pairing and I can’t wait to see what they do next.
4) How Long Rey Mysterio Will Be Out For
It was noted on RAW that Rey Mysterio suffered torn triceps at Payback. This is the same injury that recently put Edge on the shelf. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, there is some good news for Mysterio.
Rey is apparently not going to need surgery. This means that he is only going to be out for about two months (instead of the usual eight months+):
WWE referred to the injury as a triceps tear and that is likely the real injury, but as of right now, it is not thought to be as serious as a full tear that would require surgery.
The word going around tonight is that Mysterio is expected out of action for two months, or maybe less, and will be able to recover through rehab and won’t need surgery.
My Take:
- This is good news as I assumed that he would be out for the next several months. I wouldn’t mind seeing Rey and Dominik stay together in the tag team division when he returns. They could really give the division a boost.
