Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.
5) WWE’s New Mandate About Matches
According to journalist Tom Colohue, WWE has issued a new mandate to Superstars. This mandate is for them to have longer matches due to the company being short-handed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Here is what Colohue said:
“There has been a mandate from the WWE management recently to have longer matches. A large part of this is down to the fact that they don’t have as many people as they normally would, so they have to stretch things out a little bit. It worked out, I think about a week and a half ago on SmackDown, where they just hit all the different divisions, one match for each one and it really helped keep things hyped up, but obviously, they have lost a few more people since then. RAW this week was very much built around that as well. So for Extreme Rules, the same rule applies.
The cinematic matches are apparently quite long, and there is still a chance that we see a SmackDown Tag Team titles match added to the card.”
My Take:
- I like that Superstars are getting more time for their matches. We have seen this work nicely with Sasha Banks, Bayley, Asuka and Kairi Sane. They were given a nice chunk of time and put on a really fun match. I think that this is definitely a positive thing.
4) The New Plans For Wrestlemania 37?
According to a report from Ringside News, Wrestlemania 37 will not be happening in California.
The site says that the new plan is for the event to take place in Tampa Bay instead:
Ringside News has learned that the March 28th, 2021 event at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California isn’t going to happen as planned. WrestleMania 37 will take place in Tampa instead.
A source in the company told us that WrestleMania 37 is going to make up for the lost WrestleMania 36 event. Additionally, it was told to us that WWE “promised” next year’s WrestleMania event to Tampa “to keep DeSantis in the fold.”
My Take:
- I could see this happening if California doesn’t allow large-scale events. Then, they can do Wrestlemania 38 at SoFi Stadium. That seems like a fair way to do it since Tampa Bay lost the event this year.
