Rumor Roundup: Surprising NXT Call-Up, The Plans For Edge At Wrestlemania 37, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) The Plans For Edge At Wrestlemania 37

According to a report from WrestlingNews.co, WWE is tentatively planning to do Edge vs Randy Orton at Wrestlemania 37.

After this, Edge and Orton will move on to new feuds:

The original plan for Orton was for him to face Edge in the final match of their feud but those plans were dropped because Edge is out with an injury. WrestlingNews.co was told that the tentative plan is to do Edge vs. Orton by WrestleMania 37 and then Edge will move on to other opponents.

My Take:

  • Edge vs Orton has been a great feud and I wouldn’t hate to see their next match at Wrestlemania. This sounds good to me.

4) Sheamus’ Status Is Currently Unclear For Extreme Rules

Sheamus hasn’t been on Smackdown over the past few weeks. He keeps appearing on the show but only via Zoom.

According to Ringside News, Sheamus’ status is currently unclear for the Extreme Rules PPV. Here is what the site wrote about the situation:

Ringside News has learned that WWE is “waiting on Sheamus” before they officially book his Horror Show at Extreme Rules match. It was not made 100% clear what WWE is waiting on, but there are a couple of options, all of which obviously create a situation where the Celtic Warrior is unable to appear at the WWE Performance Center.

Sheamus is currently involved in a storyline so WWE did what they can to keep him on television. They aren’t sure if he will be cleared and ready to compete by July 19th. This is why Jeff Hardy agreed to a bar fight match, but it was not set. Obviously, they remain hopeful that it will happen as planned.

My Take:

  • It has definitely been weird that Sheamus hasn’t physically been on Smackdown in a few weeks. I have to wonder if it has anything to do with the COVID-19 pandemic.
