Becky Lynch dropped the bombshell announcement on RAW this week that she is pregnant. As a result, she vacated the RAW Women’s Championship. This news gave us the answer to the question of why Becky didn’t take part in the Money in the Bank PPV.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer provided some insight into the original plans for Becky prior to her pregnancy.
Meltzer says that Becky was originally scheduled to wrestle at the Money in the Bank PPV. Becky was going to put her RAW Women’s Title on the line at the event against Nia Jax.
It was noted by Meltzer that Becky was planned to beat Nia in this match. This means that WWE wasn’t planning on taking the belt off Becky, at least in the short-term.
Meltzer also noted that Shayna Baszler was originally planned to remain as Becky’s top rival over the next few months.
This means that we would have seen Nia vs Becky at Money in the Bank, with Becky retaining. We also would have seen more matches between Becky and Shayna over the next few months. These plans have obviously been scrapped.
