Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.
5) WWE Changes Plans For Debuting Superstar
On NXT this week, WWE aired a promo video for El Hijo Del Fantasma. During the promo video, he was wearing a mask.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the original plans were for El Hijo Del Fantasma to debut in WWE without a mask. It is unclear what happened but the company changed their minds and decided to keep his mask on.
If he looks familiar to you, he was formerly known as King Cuerno in Lucha Underground.
My Take:
- I am excited to see what Fantasma can do in WWE. He is a talented guy and he is definitely someone who I will be keeping my eyes on.
4) What WWE Told Its Furloughed Employees
Wrestling INC has provided some details about what WWE is telling its furloughed employees. This includes the producers and coaches that were temporarily cut by WWE like Lance Storm, Fit Finlay, and more.
The report says that these individuals received an information packet that says they were furloughed because of the “current level of work available as a result of COVID-19.” They will remain on the payroll until Saturday when the furlough officially kicks in. Here are some more details:
The furlough end date is July 1, 2020, although it was specified that it was subject to extension “given the current situation and ongoing uncertainties.” It was noted that while there is not a definitive end date, the expectation is that it will last fewer than six months, although WWE reserves the right to extend or terminate the furlough period at their discretion. It was stated that they plan to keep employees informed of decisions made during that time. While they hope that the furloughs will be sufficient, it was noted that layoffs might be necessary.
WWE will be covering health insurance contributions during the furlough period for employees enrolled in the WWE health plan, and they will retain their seniority with the company. WWE noted that furloughed employees will not be receiving a paycheck, however they may be eligible for unemployment benefits as well as the Federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which provides additional unemployment insurance of $600 per week.
My Take:
- It is great to see that their health benefits will still be paid during this time. Let’s hope that things can get back to normal over the next several months and these guys and girls can get back to work.
