On this week’s episode of ‘WWE Backstage’, Ryan Satin dropped the big news that Rob Gronkowski (aka Gronk) is close to finalizing a deal with WWE. Gronk is well-known for his incredible football career and he has also made some WWE appearances in the past.
After the news broke, fans have been wondering what capacity that Gronk will be used in WWE. The initial reports didn’t specify if he would be wrestling or if he would be used as an on-screen talent (like a manager or announcer). We have an update for you.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that WWE is planning to use Gronk as an active pro-wrestler. Johnson hints that he will be used in a similar capacity as Ronda Rousey when she first came into WWE:
PWInsider.com is told that Gronkowski will be working as an active pro wrestler, not as an employee of the company being an announcer or a similar role. One source described it as a deal similar to Ronda Rousey, bringing a big name from another sport into the company.
In was also noted in the previous report on ‘WWE Backstage’ that we could see Gronk as early as the March 20th episode of Smackdown in New Orleans.
We will let you know if we hear anything more.
