WWE Super Showdown 2020 Rumors & Spoilers
8) Why Rusev Was Pulled From WWE Super Showdown
Rusev was recently pulled from the gauntlet match for the Tuwaiq Trophy at WWE Super Showdown. He was originally supposed to face Andrade, AJ Styles, Erick Rowan, R-Truth, and Bobby Lashley. Rey Mysterio has now taken the spot of Rusev in the match.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider says that the rumor going around is that Rusev is dealing with a back injury, which is why he was pulled from the match:
WWE star Rusev was not at tonight’s Raw in Winnipeg, Manitoba and is no longer scheduled to travel to Saudi Arabia for this Thursday’s WWE Super Showdown in Riyadh. The word making the rounds is that Rusev is citing a back issue, leading to his replacement.
My Take:
- I actually thought that Rusev had the best chance to win this match as he was the top babyface. I am now not sure what is going to happen.
7) How The WWE Locker Room Feels About Going Back To Saudi Arabia
The last time that WWE traveled to Saudi Arabia was for the Crown Jewel event in October. After the show was over, the WWE plane had an issue and many Superstars couldn’t leave the country for about 24 hours. This sparked many rumors about what had happened and if there was something more at play.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider has provided some backstage insight into how the WWE locker room feels about going to Saudi Arabia for Super Showdown. Here is what Johnson said:
“I have been told that basically in the company there was an unofficial edict that stated like ‘We’re all going together, we’re all staying together, nobody is leaving early if there’s an issue, everybody is staying together.’ If you’re not a wrestler and you’re part of the support staff you’re not leaving until the wrestlers leave because there was some anger on the wrestlers’ end that some people who worked for the company left before the wrestlers did and the wrestlers got stuck.”
My Take:
- I don’t blame the locker room for this as I would be pissed if I was stuck for 24 hours and others on the roster left in a private jet.
6) Planned Wrestlemania Match Moved To WWE Super Showdown
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE was originally planning Bayley vs Naomi for Wrestlemania 36. Instead, they have decided to move the match to WWE Super Showdown.
It is unclear what WWE has planned for the Smackdown Women’s Championship at Wrestlemania 36. As of right now it looks like it won’t be Bayley vs Naomi though.
My Take:
- I am still holding out hope for Bayley vs Sasha Banks. That is still the match that I want to see at Wrestlemania 36.
