Backstage News On Vince McMahon’s New Philosophy For Booking PPV Events

The TLC PPV is less than two weeks away. As of writing this, there have been no matches confirmed for the event yet.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), Vince McMahon has a new philosophy for booking PPV events.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

McMahon’s new philosophy is that the PPV’s are all about network sign-ups, as opposed to the limited PPV business still being done. The belief based on patterns of sign-ups is that they are big the last day of the show, and not before.

So unlike ticket sales, which come a month or more in advance, and PPV parties, which get arranged days if not a week plus out, the dynamic is completely different and there is no need to rush anything.

If this is true, we can expect PPV events to have matches finalized a lot later than what we are used to. The TLC PPV seems to be a great example of that as it is unusual for them to not confirm at least one match this close to the event.
