During a conference call with media members, Triple H teased that the final member of Team Ciampa will be ‘epic’. He also noted that we won’t be finding out who the surprise is until the day of Takeover: WarGames. Here are some candidates who could join Tommaso Ciampa, Keith Lee, and Dominic Dijakovic in their match against The Undisputed Era.
5) CM Punk
I have to include CM Punk on this list as a longshot. He would definitely fit the criteria of an “epic” surprise. Punk recently joined WWE Backstage, which was a surprise to many based on how he left WWE several years ago. Punk is a FOX employee but the talk of him returning to the ring for WWE at some point has definitely heated up. In recent interviews, he has also not been shutting down the idea of ever wrestling again for WWE.
Takeover: WarGames is taking place in Chicago, which is Punk’s hometown. The building would erupt if this were to happen. This could lead to a feud between CM Punk and Adam Cole for the NXT Championship, which would be amazing.
As I said before, this is a longshot. Still, it would definitely be an ‘epic’ surprise.
4) Velveteen Dream
Velveteen Dream is definitely a candidate in my eyes to be the final member of Team Ciampa at Takeover: WarGames. Dream has been off NXT television for a while now due to injury. There hasn’t been any concrete information as to how long he will be out of action for. As a result, I have to include him on my list.
This would make a ton of sense from a storyline standpoint. Dream had been beefing with Roderick Strong prior to him getting hurt. Plus, it was The Undisputed Era who attacked him backstage, which led to his storyline injury.
I am not sure if Dream would fit the criteria of being an ‘epic’ surprise. Still, he seems likely for the final spot on this team due to his beef with The Undisputed Era.
