5) More On Oney Lorcan Asking For His Release From WWE
News broke this weekend that 205 Live star, Oney Lorcan, has requested his release from WWE.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Lorcan privately asked to be released by the company at the end of October. This is obviously the opposite strategy as to what we have seen from other WWE stars, who have requested their releases on social media.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that he has heard that Lorcan has been very unhappy in WWE for a while now.
4) The Backstage Reaction To Superstars Requesting Their Releases From WWE
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about the recent influx of Superstars asking to be released by WWE. That includes Oney Lorcan, Mike Kanellis, and Sin Cara in the past few months.
Meltzer says that there are those backstage who think that WWE should just grant these release requests. Here is what Meltzer said (h/t to Ringside News for the quotes below):
“You know I don’t know there’s different schools of thought. There’s a school of thought that all these guys who wanna leave that are there [in WWE] and they really are not [happy] that it really kinda just hurts morale and it’s just better to let them go.”
“You know, they’re not letting people go. I know people who have argued to let people go, but they’re not letting anyone go still. So, until they do you know all these guys, man.”
“Be quiet, be you know, be… it’s easy for me to say. There’s a time for that — now for the guys who signed a five-year contract now and three months later they wanna go [like Mike Kanellis] that’s a bad situation that I can’t help you with, because that was… you know don’t sign five-year deals if you think you’re gonna be unhappy.”
