Randy Orton got the internet talking over the past 24 hours. This came after Orton posted a photo of himself beside a sign that said “Elite Level”. Orton tagged Cody Rhodes, Chris Jericho, and several other wrestlers. This fueled the speculation that he is potentially interested in making the jump over to AEW.
After this happened, many fans started to wonder about the status of Orton’s contract with WWE.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has provided an update on Orton’s contract. Here is what he wrote:
Shortly after the post, Fightful began receiving inquiries from WWE talent and employees about Orton, who volunteered up information that as of right now, Orton’s WWE deal is up next summer. He was reported to have signed a ten-year deal in 2010, but considering a number of variables, the length of the deal could have always changed. The information is expanded on during Fightful Select’s Backstage Report Podcast.
My Take: This is probably Orton just trolling everybody and trying to get a bigger contract offer from WWE. I would be surprised if he does end up leaving WWE but you never know.
