5) John Cena Chases The Intercontinental Championship
Even though John Cena has won a lot of gold in his career, he is still not a ‘Grand Slam Champion’ in WWE. The only belt that he is missing for the achievement is the Intercontinental Championship.
An easy storyline for WWE to write for Cena would be for him to go after whoever is holding the Intercontinental Championship at the time of his return.
Cena could talk in his promos about the Intercontinental Championship being the only thing that he hasn’t accomplished with the company. Seems like it would be pretty easy to set up.
I also think that Cena will win the belt before he officially retires from the company.
4) John Cena Faces An NXT Superstar In Their Main Roster Debut
John Cena made his WWE debut back in 2002 on an episode of Smackdown. Cena put on a great performance against Kurt Angle, which helped launch his career. Cena went on to become the top guy in WWE for more than a decade.
I think that it would be pretty cool to see Cena return the favor before he officially retires from WWE. This time, Cena could face off against a young talent from NXT in their main roster debut.
Just imagine that Cena was hosting an open challenge on RAW or Smackdown. This challenge would then be answered by someone like Velveteen Dream. Love him or hate him, John Cena is someone who attracts a lot of attention. This could be a great way to launch the career of Dream (or another NXT star) on the WWE main roster.
This would also be a moment where Cena’s career comes full circle.
