This week’s episode of Monday Night RAW featured a gauntlet match to determine AJ Styles’ opponent at Summerslam. Ricochet ended up winning the match against Rey Mysterio, Andrade, Sami Zayn, and Cesaro. The show also saw Brock Lesnar destroy Seth Rollins and more.
We have a backstage tidbit to pass your way about RAW this week.
According to Dave Meltzer in his daily update for F4WOnline, RAW this week saw its heaviest backstage influence yet from Paul Heyman. Here is what Meltzer wrote:
We’ll see if this is for the better or the worst, but tonight’s Raw is the heaviest Paul Heyman influenced show to date. I had that feeling when I heard about the gauntlet match since he’s trying to make new stars and the gauntlet is really what created Kofi Kingston as a singles main eventer and another gauntlet helped Seth Rollins greatly. But it’s pretty much confirmed the idea that they will attempt to make one or more stars in that match.
My Take: RAW was really solid this week so Heyman gets big praise from me. The more backstage influence that he gets, the better.
