Details On The Original Plans For Rikishi At The RAW Reunion That Had To Be Scrapped

Rikishi was at ringside for the Usos’ match at the RAW Reunion special. The Usos ended up defeating the Revival, who had D-Von Dudley in their corner.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), there were some bigger plans for this segment that had to be scrapped due to medical issues.

Here is what Meltzer said about the segment (h/t to Ringside News for the quotes below):

“Rikishi wasn’t cleared, but that wasn’t a big deal, but Rikishi was supposed to do the Stinkface on D-Von and The Revival and I don’t know what it is where you can’t get cleared to do a Stinkface, but he was not cleared to do a Stinkface.”

This goes along with the rumor of WWE having some medical issues before the show which forced late re-writes.

My Take: This makes a ton of sense looking back at it. It would have been much better to see Rikishi get involved for a second. Instead, we got a strange part of the match where he and D-Von Dudley just stared each other down.
