Theory On The Reason For Shelton Benjamin’s Weird Segment On Smackdown This Week

This week’s episode of Smackdown featured a weird segment involving Shelton Benjamin. He was asked backstage about the WWE Title match at Extreme Rules between Kofi Kingston and Samoa Joe. Benjamin didn’t end up responding.

All Benjamin did during the segment was shift his eyes, which confused the hell out of his fans.

I have a theory to pass your way about the reason behind this segment.

My conspiracy theory is that this was done to tease a cash-in from Brock Lesnar during the WWE Title match at Extreme Rules. It might sound crazy but let’s take a look at the evidence.

Prior to him shifting his eyes, Benjamin was asked about the WWE Championship match between Kofi Kingston and Samoa Joe. Him shifting his eyes seemed like it could be a hint that he knows something about the match. Plus, remember a few months ago when Benjamin randomly showed up on RAW to attack Seth Rollins? This was a weird segment, where Paul Heyman reminded us about the friendship between Benjamin and Lesnar. We never really got any answers about that segment, so maybe WWE did it to re-establish the friendship between Heyman, Lesnar, and Benjamin?

Essentially, the theory is that this segment was foreshadowing a cash-in from Brock Lesnar during the WWE Title match. In this theory, Benjamin is potentially in on it or just knows that it’s going to happen.

That is my best attempt at a conspiracy theory. Let me know what you think in the comment section below.
