Backstage News On What Happened With The Fatal 4 Way Match On RAW

RAW this week featured a match between Baron Corbin, The Miz, Braun Strowman, and Bobby Lashley. This was won by Corbin, who earned a WWE Universal Championship match against Seth Rollins.

There was some confusion from fans after this was originally advertised as an elimination match. This never ended up happening and Corbin just pinned the Miz to win.

We have some backstage notes to pass your way about what happened.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, WWE officials went back-and-forth about whether or not to make it an elimination match. Here is a quote about what happened:

For those of you wondering what happened to the advertised Fatal Four Way Elimination match on Raw, we are told that over the course of the day, WWE officials went back and forth on whether it should be an Elimination match or a single fall bout.

The argument was made that to protect talents, there should not be three eliminations and eventually that argument won out, so the match was changed to one finish, with Baron Corbin pinning the Miz to secure his Universal title bout with Seth Rollins.
