5 Possible Reasons Why Finn Balor Dropped The Intercontinental Championship

In a surprising move on RAW this week, Finn Balor dropped the Intercontinental Championship to Bobby Lashley. I have put together some potential reasons as to why WWE had Balor drop the belt.

5) WWE Is Moving Finn Balor To Smackdown After Wrestlemania

A potential reason why Balor dropped the Intercontinental Title is that WWE is setting up a big move for after Wrestlemania. That move would be Balor moving over to Smackdown.

The Superstar Shake-Up is happening right after Wrestlemania and Balor is a prime candidate to move to the blue brand. Personally, I would love to see Balor on Smackdown as we could see a feud between him and Daniel Bryan. We could also see Balor join up with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. If he is going to be changing brands, it would make sense that they wanted to get the Title off him.

This could have waited until Wrestlemania or the RAW after but maybe WWE is planning ahead for Balor’s move to Smackdown? I think that this would be a reasonable explanation.

4) WWE Is Planning A Seth Rollins vs Finn Balor Feud After Wrestlemania

Another option that came to my mind was that WWE is planning a feud between Finn Balor and Seth Rollins.

This would be after Wrestlemania 35 where Seth will win the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar. Brock probably won’t be around after the event, so it might make sense for Balor and Rollins to feud over the belt.

There is a ton of history here as Balor was injured at the hands of Rollins during their Universal Title match at Summerslam a few years ago. Balor won that match, so it would make sense for Rollins to want to prove himself. This seems like a pretty easy story for WWE to write based on their history.

If that is the case, it would make sense for WWE to get the Intercontinental Championship off Balor as soon as possible. This frees him up for a feud with Rollins after Wrestlemania.
