Smackdown Live has a new tag team. Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev defeated Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson on this past week’s episode of Smackdown Live.
So where is this storyline going? Let’s speculate a little bit.
I originally thought that this was going to be a quick partnership. After thinking about it, I have changed my mind.
I think that WWE is going to attempt to recreate the same magic that they found with Sheamus and Cesaro. Both were singles guys that ended up making a really good tag team. Rusev and Nakamura are an odd pairing at first glance but they might be able to work together really well. Let’s be honest, did anyone think that Sheamus and Cesaro would work when they were first paired up? I know that I didn’t.
The idea behind their pairing would be to build them up for an eventual match between The Miz and Shane McMahon at Wrestlemania 35. Here is how I see it going:
- The Miz & Shane defeat The Usos at the Elimination Chamber.
- The Miz & Shane defeat The New Day at Fastlane.
After Fastlane, the Miz & Shane would have essentially cleaned out most of the top teams in the division. I could see WWE building up Nakamura & Rusev for the Smackdown Tag Team Title match at Wrestlemania 35.
Would you be down for that? Let us know in the comment section below.
