10 Of The Biggest WWE Rumors Of The Week (January 18, 2019)

Here are some of the biggest WWE rumors of the week. Make sure to take rumors with a grain of salt as always.

10) WWE’s Plans For The Recent NXT Call-Ups

RAW and Smackdown this week saw most of the recent call-ups from NXT appear (except Lars Sullivan). EC3, Nikki Cross, Lacey Evans, and Heavy Machinery all appeared in various roles on the episodes. So why didn’t they get bigger debuts?

According to a rumor, the mentality right now from Vince McMahon is that he just wants fans to see their faces on TV. WWE hasn’t decided on how they are going to use them or what show that they are going to be on moving forward.

The idea right now is to get fans more familiar with them. This is because most fans don’t really know who they are (since most don’t watch NXT every week). When WWE has a plan in place for them, fans will at least have a better idea of their characters from these background segments.

9) The Latest On Lars Sullivan

One of the big stories over the past week or so has been about Lars Sullivan. It started after a rumor came out that suggested Lars had an anxiety attack before RAW last week and missed his scheduled dark match.

The rumor a few days ago was that WWE made contact with Lars to try and help him through the issues. While saying that, Sullivan is rumored to have not been in contact with WWE for several days after this happened.

WWE had some big plans for Lars. He was a rumored for a Wrestlemania match against John Cena. Those plans are now in serious doubt. The rumor also suggested that Vince McMahon is unhappy with Triple H about the situation. This is because it was Triple H who pitched that Lars should receive a mega-push on the main roster.

8) Why Braun Strowman Was Pulled From The Match Against Brock Lesnar

According to a rumor, WWE originally had plans to do the Braun Strowman vs Brock Lesnar match. After WWE Crown Jewel, Vince McMahon saw that Braun was cooling off and didn’t want to beat him again. Braun also lost some momentum after suffering the elbow injury. Vince felt as if he couldn’t beat Strowman again since the plan was for Brock to retain the Title at the Rumble.

That left Vince with the option of doing a screwy finish to protect Strowman or pulling the match completely. Vince ultimately went with changing the match to Lesnar vs Finn Balor.

This goes against the fan speculation that Braun still hasn’t been cleared to return to action after having elbow surgery.
