There have been a lot of rumors over the past several months about what will be the main event of Wrestlemania 35.
We have a rumor to pass your way about the original plans for the main event (that have been scrapped).
This comes via Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here).
Even though there have been plenty of rumors about Ronda Rousey main eventing, Roman Reigns was originally planned to be in the main event match of the event. This would have marked the 5th straight year that Reigns’ match went on last at Wrestlemania.
The speculation is that Reigns’ opponent was going to be Dean Ambrose. This would have come after Dean turned on Roman (instead of Seth). This is only speculation but was something talked about prior to Dean’s injury last year. Regardless of the opponent, the rumor is that Reigns’ match was planned to go on last.
This has obviously been scrapped due to Reigns’ leukemia announcement. Meltzer says that the decision of what will now be the main event has not been made. It likely won’t be decided until much closer to the show. The current favorite is Becky Lynch vs Ronda Rousey with the potential of Charlotte Flair being added.
How would you have felt about Reigns vs Ambrose at Wrestlemania 35? Would Dean turning on Roman have been better than Dean turning on Seth? Let us know in the comment section below.
