Speculation On The Plans For Women’s Tag Team Titles

Vince McMahon made a big announcement on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. Vince announced that tag team titles are finally coming for the WWE Women’s division.

These belts have been rumored for the past several months and Vince says that they are finally coming in 2019. No further information was given about the belts other than that they are coming to WWE.

So how are these titles going to work? Let’s speculate a little bit.

To start, I don’t think that we are going to get two sets of titles for RAW and Smackdown (like WWE has for the men). My gut says that WWE is just going to have one set of Titles, which will be called the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.

My hope is that WWE doesn’t just make them RAW exclusive. I think it would be great to see the belts defended on RAW, Smackdown, and even maybe NXT the odd time. There are only so many Women’s tag teams, so this would be a way to keep things fresh.

My ideal way would be, say Bayley and Sasha are the tag team Champions. They stay on RAW and feud with other teams on their own brand. One PPV they defend against a team that they are feuding with on RAW. Another PPV they defend them against a team from Smackdown. If the belts change hands, the titles switch over to the other show. Sasha & Bayley always stay on RAW in this scenario, so the brand split stays intact. They only face off against Smackdown teams at the odd PPV event.

That’s how I think it will go. What about you? Let me know in the comment section below.
