Backstage News On What Happened With The Scrapped Becky Lynch vs Asuka Match

This week’s episode of WWE Main Event was advertising Becky Lynch vs Asuka for the Smackdown Women’s Championship at the Royal Rumble.

After the news came out, Paige announced on social media that the match was not official for the PPV.

We have some more details on what happened with the scrapped match.

According to John Pollock of POST Wrestling, Becky vs Asuka was the original plan for the Rumble. WWE decided to re-evaluate the card for the PPV at the last-minute. The WWE Main Event studio had the old information and that is why the news broke about the match early:

In other words, WWE still hasn’t decided on the plans for Asuka and Becky Lynch at the Rumble. The match still could happen but WWE didn’t want it to get out until they made up their minds.
