John Cena Clarifies Rumors About His Return To WWE

News broke a few weeks ago that John Cena will be returning to WWE in late December and early January. This was interesting because this is right in time for the Royal Rumble and the start of the build towards Wrestlemania 35.

Cena was recently interviewed by the Toronto Sun. This was in order to promote his new movie, Bumblebee. During the interview, Cena spoke about his upcoming return to WWE.

Specifically, he cleared up the rumors about his return.

Cena will be starting to film another movie on January 20th. As a result, he is only returning for (untelevised) WWE live events and nothing more. Here is a quote:

“I was given the choice of taking one month to catch my breath and live what I would call a normal life. It took me about two seconds to turn that down. On December 26th, I return to Madison Square Garden and do a nice live event run with the WWE right up through the middle of January.

“None of these shows are televised. I’m literally just doing it because I want to get back to a place I feel most comfortable and to working with people I can call my family. And I want to have some fun.”

Cena recently explained why he can’t wrestle at the same time as he films a movie. Looks like we can count him out of the Royal Rumble match in 2019.

On a related note, Cena recently shared what he texted to Roman Reigns after his leukemia announcement. You can read more about that here.

  1. Never. He’ll never be a full-time wrestler ever again. But if the question is simply when will he return to WWE? He’ll prob make an appearance to hype the rumble.
