This week’s episode of Monday Night RAW took place in Houston, Texas. The show featured Dolph Ziggler vs. Drew McIntyre. It also featured a Women’s tag team match in the main event: Ronda Rousey and Ember Moon vs. Nia Jax and Tamina.
According to Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), WWE made some big changes to RAW this past week.
Vince McMahon apparently rewrote the show at the last minute.
Meltzer says that Vince didn’t arrive until a few hours before the show. After he did arrive, he decided to change things up.
The reason for the rewrites was reportedly due to the recent passing of former U.S President, George H.W. Bush. The idea was that WWE was in Houston, Texas (where Bush lived). Vince felt as if the fans were going to be in a somber mood because of his passing and they needed to do something to make them happy.
There were apparently “wholesale” changes to the script, to make the show happier than what was originally planned. There was more heat planned for the show that was scaled back a bit.
This is also apparently the second week in a row that Vince has made some big changes to the RAW script at the last moment.
