When WWE first announced plans for their UK division, they said there would be no restrictions placed on the talent in regards to where they could work. That doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.
According to a report from WrestleTalk, several NXT UK Superstars signed new contracts with WWE recently. These contracts allegedly include a bump in their pay.
While saying that, these contracts are also said to have some major restrictions that will more than likely hurt the UK independent scene moving forward.
These restrictions include that signed talent will not be allowed to work for any promotions that aren’t affiliated with WWE. They will also not be allowed to wrestle against anyone contracted to any major promotion (like Ring of Honor, New Japan Wrestling, Impact Wrestling and more). Also, talent will only be able to wrestle on a show if there is a paramedic present. This is because there have been some injuries happening at independent shows as of late.
According to PWInsider, NXT UK stars will still be allowed to work for the following promotions (note: it must only be dark matches that won’t be distributed anywhere else):
- Great Britain’s PROGRESS Wrestling
- Scotland’s ICW
- Germany’s WXW
- Fight Club Pro
- Attack! Pro Wrestling
- Over the Top Wrestling in Ireland.
- Great Britain’s Futureshock.
