It has been confirmed that Ronda Rousey will be defending her RAW Women’s Championship at the upcoming Tables, Ladders, and Chairs event. Ronda will be facing off against Nia Jax.
Jax won the battle royal at WWE Evolution to earn a Title shot against Ronda.
According to a rumor, these were not the original plans for Ronda’s Title defense at this PPV.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), Dave Meltzer says that the original plan was always for Natalya to turn on Ronda at some point around this time. This would have set up a PPV match between them.
With the recent death of Jim Neidhart, WWE decided to cancel the plans of turning Natalya heel. The feeling was that fans wouldn’t boo her after what happened. As a result, WWE decided to go with Nia instead.
Natalya and Ronda haven’t been involved in anything together on RAW for the past several weeks. It looks like their TV friendship has been dropped with WWE changing plans for the heel turn.
