Rumor On A Possible Mistake Made On The Survivor Series Kickoff Show

The Superstars from Monday Night RAW dominated Smackdown Live at Survivor Series this year. The only win for the blue brand came on the kickoff show, in the tag team elimination match.

WWE didn’t count this as a win for Smackdown though and advertised RAW winning 6 matches to 0.

There is an interesting rumor making the rounds about a potential mistake that was made on the kickoff show.

According to Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), the word going around is that the Usos won due to some miscommunication.

Vince McMahon apparently wanted a clean sweep for RAW. Something was lost during the communication process with the agent involved, which led to Smackdown getting the win. Meltzer says “that was the reason. One hand forgot what the other was doing.”

It sounds ridiculous but it kind of makes sense. WWE pretended like the kickoff show match didn’t count, even though a large chunk of the audience watched Smackdown win. Michael Cole also said a handful of times that RAW won every match.
