Brock Lesnar is now the WWE Universal Champion. Brock defeated Braun Strowman at the WWE Crown Jewel PPV event in Saudi Arabia. This came after Brock hit Braun with several F5’s.
We know that Brock will be facing AJ Styles at Survivor Series in a Champion vs Champion match. The question now becomes, what will the plans be for him after Survivor Series?
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Brock has signed on at least two more appearances with WWE. The first is obviously against AJ Styles at Survivor Series. Brock’s second appearance will likely be at either the Royal Rumble or Wrestlemania 35.
Regardless of when, Meltzer says that the plan is for Brock to defend the Title against Braun Strowman. The idea of their match in Saudi Arabia was not to make it look like a squash. The story that they wanted to tell was that Braun survived multiple F5’s and also survived the cheap shot from Corbin at the start of the match. This saves Brock vs Braun for a later date, this time in a fair fight.
Where it becomes tricky is Brock’s potential return to the UFC. Brock will be eligible to fight again in January of 2019. There have been rumors that Brock could face both Daniel Cormier or Jon Jones. UFC 223 takes place on January 26th, 2019, which is one day prior to the Royal Rumble.
In a nutshell, it looks like we are back to the Universal Championship not being defended on every PPV event moving forward. We are also heading towards another Brock vs Braun clash.
