The topic that has been dominating headlines in the world of WWE is the upcoming Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia. It appears as if the event is still going on as planned, even though WWE has been generating some mainstream criticism over the past few days.
A report recently dropped that suggested multiple members of the WWE roster were uncomfortable with going to Saudi Arabia. This comes following the disappearance and alleged murder of Jamal Khashoggi of the Washington Post.
The report was from Sports Illustrated and suggested that multiple WWE stars have “expressed discomfort with the idea of performing in Saudi Arabia”. There are no names mentioned.
WWE has now released a statement on these reports. Here is what they issued (via the New York Post):
“As always, we maintain an open line of communication with our performers, as we continue to monitor the situation.”
WWE did not mention Saudi Arabia on the broadcast for RAW this week. They did plug the WWE Crown Jewel show throughout the night though.
We will keep you updated when we hear anything more on the situation or from WWE.
