The topic that is dominating the headlines in WWE news right now is about the upcoming Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia and if it will be canceled. For those out of the loop, this is stemming from the disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist who was allegedly killed in the Saudi Consulate. Companies with ties to the Saudi Arabia government have now come under criticism. This includes WWE, who will be running the Crown Jewel PPV in a few weeks (which is being funded by the Saudi government).
Many fans have been asking about Kane, who is scheduled to wrestle at the event alongside the Undertaker against Shawn Michaels and Triple H.
Glenn ‘Kane’ Jacobs just became the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee. This puts him in the political crossfire for the event.
A spokesperson for Kane told Knox News that he still plans on wrestling at the event. He also issued the following comments:
“Mayor Jacobs won’t speculate on Mr. Khashoggi’s disappearance. However, he and his family are in the mayor’s thoughts and prayers.”
WWE has also issued a statement on the controversy, saying “we are currently monitoring the situation.”
For those who missed it, a handful of U.S Senators also issued comments about the WWE Crown Jewel event. You can read more about that here.
We will let you know when we hear anything more about the situation.
