The Rumored Reason Why WWE Combined Trish vs Alexa and Lita vs Mickie At Evolution

WWE made some major changes to the Evolution PPV on Monday Night RAW this week. It was revealed that we will now be getting a tag team match at the event: Mickie James and Alexa Bliss vs Trish Stratus and Lita. This was originally supposed to be Lita vs Mickie and Trish vs Alexa in singles matches.

So why the change?

According to Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), a tag team match between these four ladies was the original plan all along.

So why not announce that first?

Meltzer says that the idea was to advertise Alexa vs Trish as the top drawing match to help sell tickets over the past few months. This is because they were not setting up Ronda Rousey vs Nikki Bella for the RAW Women’s Championship until this week (only a few weeks to go before Evolution). WWE didn’t want to announce Ronda vs Nikki in advance until they shot the angle for it (which was the Bella Twins turning on Ronda).

Now that Ronda vs Nikki has been set-up, WWE felt like they could announce the change to a tag team match. Ronda vs Nikki will be billed as the headlining match for ticket sales moving forward.

Are you cool with Trish and Lita vs Mickie and Alexa? Or would you have rathered the two singles matches instead? Let me know in the comment section below.
