Backstage News On Shawn Michaels Possibly Returning To The Ring

A major topic coming out of Monday Night RAW this week was if WWE was teasing another match between Shawn Michales and the Undertaker. Shawn has been adamant about staying retired but this seemed like the biggest tease that we have ever seen in regards to one more match for the Heartbreak Kid.

Dave Meltzer provided some news on Shawn’s future in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here).

According to Meltzer, the “working idea internally right now is that Michaels is coming out of retirement“. While saying that, his return match may not be what you are expecting.

Meltzer says that the current idea is for Michaels to return to the ring for WWE’s return to Saudi Arabia on November 2nd. Meltzer also says that this would not be a singles match.

Why Saudi Arabia you ask? Meltzer says that the Saudi Arabia shows are bigger than Wrestlemania from a financial point of view (meaning a major payday for Shawn). WWE reportedly made a big push to try and get Shawn to work the Greatest Royal Rumble event several months ago. At the last event, the Prince of Saudi Arabia requested several performers from his fandom of WWE from back in the 1990’s. Shawn Michaels fits into that criteria.

If it happens, the angle/match would presumably get set-up at the WWE Super Show-Down event, where Shawn is confirmed to be in attendance.

How would you feel about Michaels returning to the ring for WWE’s event in Saudi Arabia? Let me know in the comment section.

In other news, here is our theory on the plans for the Shield’s feud with Strowman, Ziggler, and McIntyre.
