A report broke on Wednesday that suggested Brock Lesnar is indeed finished up with WWE for the time being. Brock will reportedly be focusing on his return to the UFC over the next several months but the door is open for a WWE return in the future.
So with Brock leaving for now, what does that mean for Paul Heyman’s future?
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), there is some talk about potentially keeping Heyman around as a television performer.
Meltzer says that a pairing between Heyman and Ronda Rousey was something that was discussed several months ago. This was prior to Lesnar extending his contract. It doesn’t seem like a Ronda-Heyman pairing is likely right now though as it doesn’t look like they will be turning Ronda heel anytime soon. It also doesn’t really fit if Ronda is going to continue her feud with Stephanie McMahon over the next several months.
We will let you know if we hear anything more on Heyman. There were some reports from several weeks ago that suggested Heyman was helping produce segments behind-the-scenes. Maybe they keep him around on the creative team or in some backstage capacity?
What do you think Heyman’s future will be in WWE? Would you like him paired up with someone new or should he stay behind-the-scenes? Let us know what you think in the comment section.
We also put together a list of several people who we think would be great as Heyman’s next clients.
