In a surprising turn of events, The Shield reunited on Monday Night RAW this past week. It looked as if Braun Strowman was going to cash-in to win the WWE Universal Championship from Roman Reigns. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose ended up saving up the day. The Shield gave Strowman a triple-powerbomb to close the show.
Now that the Shield is back together, what does that mean for the upcoming Hell in a Cell PPV event? Let’s speculate a little bit.
The ending of RAW had many fans assuming that we will be getting the Shield vs Braun and two partners at Hell in a Cell. While that still could happen, I personally see it going another way.
I think that storyline wise, it now makes sense for Braun to announce his cash-in ahead of time for Hell in a Cell. He will challenge Roman to a match for the Universal Title but inside of Hell in a Cell. The idea behind this for Strowman is that it keeps the Shield from getting involved in the match.
In that scenario, we would also get Rollins and Ambrose vs Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler. This is a match that is rumored for Hell in a Cell and seems likely based on what happened on RAW.
I think both of these matches make sense. If you do a 6-man tag team match with the Shield, that means both the Universal and Intercontinental Championships won’t be defended at Hell in a Cell. After Reigns talked about being a fighting Champion, it would seem a bit odd for him to not put his Title on the line at the first PPV event after winning it. My gut says that the Shield angle was just a way to tell the audience that they have one another’s backs again. They could still do a big 6-man tag team match with the Shield vs Braun and partners at the Super Show-Down event or Survivor Series.
To recap, I think that we are getting Braun vs Roman inside of Hell in a Cell. Ambrose and Rollins will face McIntyre and Ziggler. Do you agree or disagree with me? Let me know in the comment section.
On a related note, here is what we think the long-term plans will be for the feud between Daniel Bryan and the Miz.
