One of the marquee matches at Summerslam will be between Samoa Joe and AJ Styles for the WWE Championship. This will be their first televised match against one another in a WWE ring. Fans of TNA already know that they have some great chemistry and this match should be a lot of fun.
What will happen in their match at Summerslam? Also, what will happen in this feud over the next several weeks? Let’s speculate a little bit.
Over the past few weeks on Smackdown Live, the feud has become extremely personal. Samoa Joe has been bringing up the family of AJ Styles and calling him a bad father. This included Joe reading a letter this week from who he claimed was Styles’ wife, Wendy.
So what does this tell us?
The way that WWE has set this up, I think that we are going to see a non-finish at Summerslam. My guess is that we will see a double count-out or AJ getting himself disqualified out of rage. Something that keeps the Title on AJ and also keeps this feud going into the next PPV. I think this finish makes sense since Joe’s mind games are working and Styles has lost his cool.
With WWE making this feud so personal, it seems clear to me that we are heading towards Styles vs Joe inside Hell in a Cell next month. This would be the perfect place to settle their beef with one another.
My gut says Styles retains at Summerslam in some sort of a non-finish. This sets us up for Joe vs Styles inside of Hell in a Cell, where Joe wins the Title.
